COVID-19 Data Catalog

During the summer of 2020, the world was in the midst of a pandemic with no end in sight. Collibra, a company helping organizations access and unlock insights into their data, recognized that the large volume of COVID-19 data came in multiple formats and from various sources, making it difficult to find, understand and trust. They set out to quickly stand up a free version of their Data Catalog that would allow epidemiologists, researchers, data scientists and analysts who work for hospitals, healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, to derive insights and make impactful, data-driven decisions faster.

After interviewing researchers and epidemiologists from prominent hospitals and universities across the globe, we used their input to design a dashboard within the Collibra Platform that made it simple for first-time users of the product to navigate. We included a welcome video explaining the mission of the project as well as links to a curated set of relevant training in Collibra University. Three role-based subpages were also designed with Tableau dashboards embedded targeting epidemiologists, business analysts and data scientists, making the catalog a central repository for COVID-19 data.
